I think the Subaru Crosstrek I purchased is a great vehicle and am very glad we purchased it. Unfortunately, very unhappy with Randy Marion Subaru.
The guys that sold the car were very nice and competent. I admittedly quickly felt taken advantage of as they “coat” all vehicles with Resistall and charge something like $800-$900. It is worthless and there is no choice but to accept it. I picked the car up literally max 2 hours after it was off the truck…I have little comfort they actually even sprayed it with anything, not that Resistall seems to be worth it if they did. Other dealerships do not do this and at least give you something tangible. When we purchased the car, we were lucky to find one so we could not simply choose another dealer.
I went today for the first service. Everything went smoothly and it took a bit longer than I thought it would but it was reasonable. When we left, I noticed they indicated they had increased the tire pressure to 36/tire. I drove for a few miles and the pressure was the same 31/32 as it was when I took it in. I took it back as I thought perhaps my TPMS was incorrect. They looked at it and said, “oops, our gauge was off and we have now properly inflated it. thanks for letting us know.” Now maybe this is the truth but I have doubts they did anything other than change the oil (and hopefully the filter). I did check the oil when I arrived home to see if it at least looked new and it did. Since the car is only a few months old, I am not too worried about them not performing the checks but it is aggravating to say the least to have zero trust in them.
The combination of the Resistall and the tire pressure incident is enough to ensure I will not return to RM Subaru for any service in the future.
For comparison, I purchased a Camry Hybrid about 6 months before purchasing the Crosstrek. Not only is the Camry a great vehicle. Huntersville Toyota has been awesome to work with. Far superior to Randy Marion Subaru,
