I can’t speak for the dealership itself, but the service center is awful.
I had been taking my subaru here for 5 years for regular oil changes and the bigger ticket maintenance items and finally stopped a few months ago after having consistent issues. The final straw was when I had taken my car in for an oil change and less than a week later my battery died (while I was in outpatient surgery, no less) and the batteries + bulbs location I stopped at to get a new battery was horrified at the corrosion on my battery terminals indicating there was no way a tech could have missed something like that and they obviously didn’t test my battery. The next issue came a few weeks later when I ran out of windshield fluid. Considering I had taken my car nowhere else for 5 years and part of their standard oil change includes topping off all fluids, this indicated to me that if they couldn’t take the time or effort to do something that simple, who knows what else they are overlooking (and after consistent oil changes for 5 years – it was a systemic issue and not a one-off). Finally, a few months later I was seeing oil pooling around my filter. Again, a simple fix, but the tech likely isn’t oiling the filter’s gasket before install – pretty basic service that you pay dearly for at a dealership. Save yourself the hassle and have any and all work done elsewhere.
