If there were zero stars, I’d give them that- all because of their arrogant and rude assistant service manager, Larry. I went in yesterday for a hunter roadforce tire balance for the front two tires of my vehicle. I informed them of the proper lug nut torques as i have a nissan and this is a GM place and Larry was quite rude and arrogant stating they’d look them up. What? On the internet where the answer is either 82, 100, 90? I told him this. I also told him i had lots of negative experiences with tire folks overtightening things severely etc… he said “give us a chance”. Okay i said. He then told me they have a book they look it up for all the makes. Fine. I don’t know everything and I don’t profess to know everything. It seems Larry does though. Profess that is. There are only two tire places in Jefferson that have a roadforce and that’s the randy marion gmc dealer and the randy marion ford dealer. That’s why i went to gmc randy marion- for the roadforce. Well, i overheard the tech asking Larry something about the wheel weights and Larry replied “static”. Knowing as little as I do about tire balancing, I though static was when you balanced them without roadforce and dynamic was with roadforce. Maybe I am wrong? Here is what google says:
Static Balance:
Addresses imbalances where the tire’s weight is unevenly distributed around its circumference, causing a “bobbing” motion.
Dynamic Balance:
Addresses imbalances where the tire’s weight distribution is uneven side-to-side, causing a “shimmmying” motion.
Roadforce Balancing:
Incorporates both static and dynamic balancing principles and also simulates the tire’s behavior under load on the road to identify subtle imbalances that can cause vibrations or uneven wear.
Anyhow, i did not question it at the time and then my vehicle was ready. When i was paying they gave me the work order that merely read “P/S Concern”, nothing about balancing is mentioned. Also, with a roadforce balance, there is a printout that shows what the machine finds. I was not provided that but I thought, as long as it’s fixed, i don’t care.. I took it and had a vibration in the steering wheel almost immediately once i hit 55mph on 221 North. It was better, but still not right. I called back this morning, spoke with Janet and I told her that I needed the roadforce for the front redone for no charge and while i was there, i’d had the rears done too- and pay for that myself. She agreed and i made the appt for 1pm today. I drove the vehicle 7 miles from their shop yesterday to my house then again this morning, 5 miles to test and that’s when i decided to call them and have them redo it, and then back to them today. 19 miles of easy driving since the first balance attempt. I got there at 12:55pm today and went inside and started to speak with one of the service advisors. As he was listening to my situation, Larry interrupted and stated “I’m not redoing the fronts”. I told him that they still vibrate and then he asked a tech- “didn’t you road force balance those tires yesterday?”. That tech was wearing thick glasses and the tech yesterday was not wearing glasses. Maybe he was wearing contacts yesterday or was without his glasses yesterday. That tech mumbled something i couldn’t hear and then i told Larry “well it was not done right”. He started arguing with me and he did say he’d check them but at this point i did not trust what he had to say what with his being rude and arrogant and some words were exchanged and i left. I had told him i’d make a bad review and he said something like “i don’t care” or similar. To summarize, all of the people i interacted with at the dealership with the exception of Larry were kind, understanding and caring. Larry is none of those in my opinion. he doesn’t need to be managing a dealer service department. he needs a non-public facing role. I pity the employees that have to report to him. Too bad, i was hoping i found a good place to get my tires balanced as needed. Guess not.### update. B&T sparta fixed it. Was a balance issue.
