Terrible experience! On Friday 12/20 I took my f150 in for an oil change and for an inspection of my rear axle pinion seal that was leaking. After the oil change was completed the service advisors said I could return on 12/26 to have the pinion seal replaced. I leave the dealership on 12/20 drive the truck home and park it in my driveway. I did not drive the truck on 12/21. I come out to my driveway the morning of 12/22 to see a large puddle of oil under my truck. I crawl under the truck to see the oil drain plug visibly leaking and leaking quickly. The o-ring on the plug had clearly not been changed. I had to replace the drain plug with an aftermarket plug myself on Sunday and refill my truck with the oil it lost from leaking all over my driveway and from the mess that was made when I changed the plug. While under the truck I noticed that the entire front of my truck was covered in oil splatter. My truck has 50,000 miles on it, before I took it to Randy Marion Ford in statesville I could’ve eaten off the undercarriage. After changing the drain plug and refilling the truck with oil myself I returned to the dealership on 12/26 to have my pinion seal replaced. I explained to them what happened and asked them to please clean up the mess they had made of my truck and return it to me in the original condition it was in before I brought it to them. I wait for 2 hours to have the pinion seal repaired, when it was done when i walked out to the truck to leave. in the 5 minutes it had been sitting in the quick lane it had already dripped a considerable amount of oil in the lane. A service member calls a technician up to take the truck back into the shop. I then get in the truck and go back in the shop with them to make sure they did the job correctly. After 15 minutes of fooling around with the lift they finally get the truck in the air. They look at the truck, spray a tiny bit of parts cleaner on it and called it good. All but refusing to take a closer look and clean the truck off with a rag. I ask why they send vehicles home with people that are dripping oil everywhere. The technician then admits that when they take off the oil filter the excess oil drains onto the skid plate and they just don’t clean it up. The skid plate is mounted by 4 bolts and takes less that 2 minutes to remove. Once the skid plate is removed then you have access to the entire bottom side and front of the motor where you could take 10 minutes to make sure that a vehicle is clean and not going to leak oil everywhere when the customer takes their vehicle home. I finally was able to convince them to take the skid plate off and clean my truck the way it should’ve been the very first time. Meanwhile during all of this. Every mechanic in the shop was huddled around my truck chiming in on a task that would take one person 10 minutes if they wouldn’t have been lazy. Also at this time while every mechanic was sitting down or standing around watching what was going on, there was a dozen other vehicles in the shop and people waiting to have get their vehicles back. Not only did they admit that they knowingly send vehicles home with customers dripping oil but they also clearly didn’t care much about the time of others who we’re paying for a service that pays everyone’s paycheck in that shop. No wonder an oil change that would take an experienced and equipped mechanic 30 minutes to complete now takes over an hour. The dealership did not make me pay for the oil change but regardless this was an experience of absolutely terrible customer service. I’ve been to every ford dealership in the Charlotte area getting service work done and have never been treated so poorly. I will never purchase a vehicle or take a vehicle to Randy Marion Ford to be serviced ever again!
