STOP! Do not buy a Kia before you read this. If you want inferior product from an inferior car maker with an inferior customer service team, this is the car for you. I owned a 2014 Kia optima SXL. After 110,000 miles i hade a check engine light come on. This code instantly put my car in limp mode not being able to go over 40mph or go over 2000rpm. After getting the code read at my local auto shop, the code was P1326. After a quick Google search this code was a knock sensor going off due to worn out con0i0necting rod bearings. Kia vehicles made between 2011 and 2015 are notorious for having this problem. Kia has a lifetime extended warranty on these parts because they fail so much. I brought my car to Randy Marion Kia for the fix. (The fix in all cases has been an engine replacement.) After they inspected my vehicle they found it had no oil in it. My last oil change was LESS than 2300 before that. I burned through over 3 quarts of oil in 2300 miles. Kia insanely allows their vehicles to burn up too 1 quart every thousand miles. Thats considered still good to them. The dealership wanted to conduct its own oil consumption test to confirm im burning the oil. After doing the oil consumption test and confirming that i am burning over 1 quart evey 1000 miles the dealership is refusing to correct the problem with a new engine and insted wants me to pay over $1500 for a top end cleaning. Mind you, the cleaning is not guaranteed to work and kia will NOT refund you if it doesn’t work. Also if it does not work they still will not guarantee you are getting a new engine after it doesn’t work. To say im frustrated and disappointed with Kia is an understatement.
