Now I understand why shopping for a new vehicle is such a dreaded experience and dealership staff have such bad reputations. They tried to take advance of us and were misleading. We went with my younger sister to purchase her first “big girl purchase” and was completely blindsided by the staff. The first portion of the process (negotiating price) was decent, as price was settled. Then once the process was turned over to finance, we were completely mislead. Long story short; everything was agreed upon with salesman about down payment, cosigner and everything. While waiting for co-signer, my sister was pulled aside by finance staff to start signing. The interest rate, monthly payment or term length of the loan was not disclosed to her and she was just expected to sign. Once I joined her and started looking over papers they were not correct as to how they needed to be and as we discussed with salesman and sales manager multiple times. We were told the vehicle had the original warranty still active and was transferable then find out at signing that it WAS NOT. We spend a total of 5 hours there, to not come home with the vehicle. This was my sisters first car buying experience and was horrible. The financial staff acted like we were an inconvenience and when questioned about things, he did not want to give reasoning or explanation and his answer was “oh, well no one tells me these things”. I have bought two vehicles in my life and this experience was completely opposite of my past car buying experiences. This was a life lesson to my sister on needing to always fully read everything before you sign, no matter what they tell you and always speak up and ask questions. Financial staff should have brought her back and discussed her options and reviewed everything before she was even asked to sign. Today they not only missed out on one vehicle purchase but two because we were going to come back and purchase another vehicle that was there, the following business day.
