We went in to buy a new car and while test driving we asked the sales person to ensure there are no sales games during negotiation. We specifically mentioned we didn’t want the sales manager meeting us at the door with some magic deal that takes another 1-2k off the price.

During negotiations we identified that Marion was adding on a “mandatory” upholstery insurance for 1 year that cost $800. There were a few other adds that we didn’t want as well and the salesman said he couldn’t do any better on the price. We thanked him and said we were going to pass.

Wouldn’t you know the sales manager is now at the door as we are walking out. Continuing negotiations and saying we had to keep the insurance. As we got closer to the car the insurance magically was no longer needed and they would take the 800 off the price. At that point both my wife and I were insulted as this is exactly what we asked for not to happen.

If they would have been honest in the beginning and not played sales games we would have bought the car.

It’s a shame. I hope others don’t fall prey to the sales games at Randy Marion.
